Liposuction
?
Many Americans have only a vague concept of what liposuction is. Simply put, liposuction is the surgical removal of fat cells through a stainless steel suction tube called a cannula. Liposuction was first performed in 1974 and was a tremendous improvement over previous surgical body contouring techniques. There have been many advances in liposuction procedures over the last few decades, making it one of the safest and most popular body contouring surgeries in the world…

If you are considering liposuction, it is important that you have realistic expectations. Although dramatic results can be achieved, they may not be as immediate or obvious as you would like. As with all plastic surgery, the success of liposuction will depend on a number of individual factors, such as age, skin elasticity, weight, and overall health. Liposuction is not appropriate for people with a weakened immune system, diabetes, heart or artery problems, or a history of blood clots or restricted blood flow…
There are several types of liposuction procedures available, all of which use a wand-like instrument called a cannula to remove unwanted fat. Tumescent liposuction involves the injection if a large amount of anesthetic into the area being treated; the wet and super-wet techniques are variations of this type of liposuction. In ultrasonic assisted liposuction (UAL), sound waves are used to liquefy the fat before it is removed. LipoSelection® uses the same concept without disturbing the surrounding tissue…
The basic liposuction procedure involves the insertion of a small, tube-like instrument called a cannula through tiny incisions made by the surgeon. The cannula then breaks up and vacuums away unwanted fat deposits beneath the skin. Local or IV sedation will be used, depending on the type and number of liposuction procedures you undergo…

Clinica Arroyo Goldstein specifies the need for safety in conducting surgery. They outline risks in undertaking surgeries and also talk about the general anesthesia that is used during the surgery.
There are three risk conditions while performing this surgery. The first risk is removal of excessive amounts of fat on the same day at the same time. The second is removal of fat from different parts of the body on the same day. And, the third is combining surgery along with other unrelated surgical procedures that might involve the patient being under anesthesia for a longer duration. Lidocaine is a local anesthetic that is commonly used during this surgery. Most deaths related to this surgical procedure have occurred due to the general anesthesia.
Surgeons should take care not to operate on patients, who have unrealistic medical expectations, and a medical history. Surgeons should not attempt to operate on multiple areas on the same day. It is always safer to work on different parts of the body on different days and not on the same day. Most of the time the patient’s body is not able to deal with continuous stress. Lipoplasty is a common surgical procedure that comes under the category of cosmetic surgery, and is undertaken to enhance one’s looks and appearance. More awareness is required regarding different lipoplasty procedures that are performed by different surgeons across the world
Liposuction surgery may be carried out on both men and women whose fat is distributed unevenly. It is not a method of reducing weight, rather an alternative for removing fatty deposits which persist no matter how much exercise, massage or dieting is undertaken. The liposuction surgery may be performed under general or local anaesthesia, depending on the site to be treated and the amount of fat to be removed. The time the liposuction operation takes varies from 30-90 minutes, depending upon the extent of the procedure. Less extensive liposculpture can be performed as a day case but normally an overnight stay in hospital is recommended.
“Bodybuilding is much like any other sport. To be successful, you must dedicate yourself 100% to your training, diet and mental approach”. Best Liposuction
Liposuction has long been used as a body contouring method to remove pockets of unwanted fat. As a liposuction surgeon in Los Angeles, I offer several methods of liposuction that can be used to help suction fat including the tumescent, power assisted, and ultrasound assisted techniques, to name a few. While this body contouring method is appropriate for small-scale fat removal, particularly in areas such as the abdomen, back, love handles and thighs, it is important for women and men to understand that liposuction should not be considered a substitute for eating a healthy diet and living an active lifestyle.
Liposuction is helpful for removing small pockets of fat that remain resistant to diet and exercise, and it is important to note that this procedure should not be considered for large-scale fat removal. As a plastic surgeon in Los Angeles, sometimes called the beauty capital of the country, I frequently have consultations with people who want to contour and shape their bodies to look more toned and lean. This is a perfectly legitimate reason to be considering liposuction.
While liposuction can provide remarkable body contouring results, it is not a cellulite removal method, and in some cases overall skin tone may appear somewhat decreased after a liposuction procedure, particularly if a patient has less than optimal skin tone or slightly sagging skin to begin with. If skin tone is a particular concern to you, talk with your surgeon about options for cellulite treatment, such as SmoothShapes®, and skin tightening, including Thermage®.
For the most part liposuction is a permanent solution for fat removal. The fat cells that are suctioned will not increase in number, but they can increase in size. Those who have had a liposuction treatment should try to maintain their body weight at the time of surgery even after their procedure to ensure that the results remain for many years.
There are several types of liposuction techniques that can be used, depending on the patient, including:
I use the tumescent liposuction technique for my Los Angeles patients who want to remove localized fat deposits in various areas of the body. This method uses large volumes of saline solution, local anesthesia and adrenaline to make the fat cells easier to remove while limiting blood loss. Then, a cannula (small tube) is inserted that suctions away excess fat. This is a very traditional liposuction method and is widely used in practices across the country.
This liposuction technique uses a suction tube that vibrates at the tip at a fast speed in order to help break up and loosen the fat cells. This allows for gentler suctioning of the fat cells, and causes less damage to surrounding tissue than other liposuction methods. Other benefits include decreased surgical time, less anesthesia required, and greater precision.
Ultrasonic liposuction emits high-energy sound waves through the cannula that rupture the cell walls of fat cells, subsequently causing the cells to liquefy. Traditional liposuction is then used to remove the liquefied fat. The ultrasonic method is most beneficial for removing areas of fat that are especially fibrous, such as the chest, flanks and lower back.
This innovative body contouring method works by using laser technology to rupture fat cells. The cannula emits laser energy that liquefies fat cells, and the fat cells can be suctioned away or left to be absorbed naturally by the body through its own cleansing process.
In summary, while it is not an acceptable way to lose weight, liposuction can be extremely helpful in contouring and shaping the body. However, like all cosmetic procedures, liposuction also has its limitations and having a complete understanding of what is possible is essential for patients to be satisfied with their procedure outcome.

Because of the many benefits that VASER liposuction has to offer, it’s no wonder why it has become an increasingly popular choice of liposuction over the past several years. With lower costs, quicker recovery time, and less pain, many people are choosing VASER liposuction over more traditional methods of liposuction.
Benefits of VASER Liposuction
The most obvious reason behind VASER lipo’s popularity is it requires very little time to recover from the procedure. With VASER lipo being a non-invasive form of cosmetic surgery, many patients find themselves back to their busy lives in just a matter of days.
VASER liposuction is also popular because patients can undergo the entire cosmetic procedure fully awake and with a complete sense of awareness. With no general anesthesia required, the procedure poses less risks and complications to patients than surgeries that require patients to be placed under sedation.
Another benefit of the VASER treatment is it produces less pain than the more conventional liposuction procedures. As a result, many patients are able to easily walk out of the surgical office almost as easily as they walked in. The majority of patients don’t feel anything while the VASER treatment is being performed. Of course, as is the case any time our bodies undergo any form of trauma, patients do experience some minor pain and bruising as the body recovers.
How VASER Liposuction Works
VASER liposuction targets fat cells through the use of ultrasound technology. Using ultrasonic sound waves, the fat cells are broken up and then suctioned out of the body through a thin tube or cannula. This ultrasonic liposuction technique leaves vital structures such as connective tissues, nerves, and blood vessels minimally disturbed, enabling the treated areas to recover much quicker.
VASER liposuction differs from traditional liposuction procedures in the sense that it can remove fat from areas of the body that conventional methods can’t. This makes it ideal for more sensitive areas of the body, such as the upper arms, inner thighs, chin, and neck. This ultrasonic fat removal surgery also provides plastic surgeons with the ability to sculpt the body in ways not possible with traditional methods.
The VASER procedure is an ideal form of liposuction for those wishing to rid their bodies of stubborn fat that regular diet and exercise can’t eliminate. With VASER liposuction being an FDA-approved fat reduction surgery since 2008, many people are now choosing this ultrasonic form of liposuction over more traditional methods to rid their bodies of unwanted fat.

Liposuction Surgery – My Friend’s Liposuction Went Wrong. Read What Happened
When you get a liposuction then you must decide wether you want to have the fat removed during the surgery or not. For me it was always clear that I wanted to get rid of the fat. There is another option though that you wait until the body drains the fat naturally.
I never really understood why someone would want to wait. If you have a surgery then the doctor can remove the fat as well, right? Well, some people do not do that. I know somebody who got such a liposuction surgery recently and is quite unhappy.
To be honest, it is still early to tell if it was a mistake or not. The surgery was just three months ago. My friend had about 150lbs prior to the surgery and 162lbs the day after the surgery! Today she has about the weight she had before surgery but she looks deformed. She is quite unhappy.
Did the plastic surgeon made a mistake? Usually you have to wait at least six months to see the full benefits of a successful liposuction. Three months have passed and she looks worse than before. You can not blame her for being disappointed.
I recommended her to go and talk with at least two other cosmetic surgeons to find out if this is normal or not. If it was not she probably has to go under a second surgery. The question remains if she can afford that because a liposuction is not cheap.
She has an appointment next week with the new surgeons and hopefully comes back with good news. I also had a liposuction but my fat was removed instantly during the surgery. I had some swelling afterwards of course but it did go away and after some time I was pretty happy with my look. For me it was a success. For my friend however the nightmare is still not over yet.

Liposuction may very well be a good choice if you are having problems losing fat. The procedure is not meant to be a substitute for diet and exercise but rather a fix for additional health conditions that are highly likely as a result of being overweight.
Liposuction, commonly referred to as liposculpture or lipoplasty can take off little sections of fat and it is not unlimited. There are various methods that can be performed subject to the amount of fat to be removed.
In most cosmetic clinics the popular area for liposuction usage is the abdomen although additional places such as the hips, thighs, buttocks, neck, arms, knees and ankles have many requests.
Once the chosen procedure has been performed successfully there should be a long term change to the body shape and the fat cells do not come back. However, if you do experience weight gain then the existing fat cells can become larger.
As is the case with any plastic surgery it is recommended to talk over your options with your doctor or physician. They have your best interests at heart and may be able to refer you to a reputable surgeon to accomplish the procedure.
Once you select a reputable surgeon they will go over with you the different methods that are available depending on the quantity of fat to be taken off. The various methods are as follows:
Wet liposuction
This involves your surgeon inserting a combination of local anesthetic, adrenaline, and salty water into the targeted fatty area. A minor surgical incision is made in the skin and a thin metal tube is inserted which is fitted to a vacuum pump or syringe.
The surgeon shift the tube around forcefully to break apart the fatty tissue and then sucks out the fat and fluid. If the treated area is large then more cuts may be required. Once the fat has been taken off the tube is taken out and the cut is closed with stitches.
Dry liposuction
This is the same procedure as the wet liposuction but there is not any fluid being injected. The reason is it could lead to more bleeding and bruising.
Ultrasound liposuction
This technique involves ultrasound to break down the fat and can be used on fatty areas where it is extremely dense.
Laser liposuction
This procedure is involves the least amount of invasive surgery and is a fairly new breakthrough in cosmetic surgery.
You need to understand any and all risks associated as well as the benefits it provides. Now that you are aware of some of the liposuction surgery facts the next phase is to locate a clinic and an experienced and specialized surgeon for liposuction and get more information.

More and more men are turning into body-conscious freaks who believe going to the gym is just not enough to polish those lean muscles. Physical appearance is indeed important in scoring the hottest chicks at parties so many men are investing money on the easiest way to get those unwanted fats out of their system through Liposuction.
Although liposuction is commonly viewed as a female procedure, the process can actually apply to both sexes who want to lose weight or shape their physique, especially as they approach older age or need to trim serious fat accumulated over the years.
According to a recent study made by university students in Ohio, female patients turn to liposuction to trim fat in legs and thighs, while men tend to avail of the procedure for core sculpting. This usually involves removing beer bellies that hard to eliminate, especially for middle-aged men. In addition, people nearing midlife crisis are prone to feel depressed about their physical appearance, hence cosmetic surgery provides a tested and convenient way to reclaim their bygone bodies.
Since men are more focused on the middle section of the body, liposuction operations for men are usually more expensive compared to females. The gender doesn’t affect the cost rather it’s the volume of fats that will be taken out of your body. Generally, men are larger in size than women thus the surgery involves bigger areas of the body. In addition, the male body fats are more fibrous than those of women’s bodies therefore the surgery is more complex and time consuming.
Some male patients get a liposuction surgery to cure their Gynecomastia, a physical abnormality where the men’s chests are larger than the usual. Liposuction will lessen the size and volume of fats in the male’s breast which cures their Gynecomastia.
Based on the liposuction for men website (http://www.liposuctionmen.com/), the top five lists of cosmetic procedures done with men are Liposuction, Rhinoplasty, eyelid surgery, breast reduction, and facelift. Currently, in the United States over 32% of the male population visit a cosmetic surgery clinic to get a liposuction.
Although getting a liposuction is a good way to encourage yourself from losing those unwanted fats, doctors would still recommend their patients to maintain their bodies through a well-balanced diet, daily workout, and maintaining a healthy lifestyle with less vices.
High-pitched sound waves are the means through which ultrasonic liposuction liquefies fat in select areas prior to removal. Surgeons frequently use this ultrasonic method on knees, calves, and ankles, and also the chin, cheeks, and neck. It can be used as an add-on treatment to tumescent liposuction for individuals who require more precision in their body shaping needs.
As one of the newest forms of cosmetic surgical procedures, it employs ultrasonic sound waves to essentially “transform” fat deposits into liquid. When this transformed fat is mixed with an injected tumescent solution, the fat emulsifies, allowing the surgeon to suction it out much more easily.
Injecting the tumescent solution is ultrasonic liposuction’s initial stage. The solution is comprised of anesthetic, epinephrine, and salt water that is injected into the treated area. While making fat deposits easier to get at and take out, this injection also decreases the patient’s fluid loss while fat is being eliminated.
While ultrasonic liposuction takes place, a generator creates waves of sound that initiate fat removal. The ultrasonic waves are directed through a cannula, which is a straw-like suction device. When the cannula meets the fatty areas, they turn to liquid, and are suctioned out of the body.
Benefits
Several key benefits are connected to fat removal by the ultrasonic method. One is that thicker fat deposits come out more easily and larger fat volumes can be eliminated in one procedure. Ultrasonic liposuction has the additional advantage of making skin more taut, a clear benefit since sagging, extra skin can be reduced. Ultrasonic liposuction is also renowned for its ability to truly shape and contour liposuction results until they are refined to the patient and surgeon’s full satisfaction.
Risks
The use of high heat is central to the ultrasonic liposuction process, so risk does exist for burning, blistering and scarring. A qualified cosmetic surgeon is highly unlikely to put patients at risk, but this risk should be mentioned. Another risk is called seroma. With this condition, the body produces excess fluid in the areas in which fat has been removed. The extra fluid must be suctioned out with a syringe until the empty area closes up.
